Customer Experiences with Southern Current

Positive Aspects Highlighted by Customers

Many customers have praised Southern Current for its exceptional customer service, knowledgeable and non-pushy sales approach, and professional installation process. For instance, Bill Mote commends the company for its friendly, intelligent, and professional employees, highlighting the tailored solar solutions provided for his home. Similarly, Bill Rogers’ experience underscores Southern Current’s competitive pricing and informative presentation, which stood out among five different solar companies he considered.

The quick and efficient installation process, coupled with the aesthetic consideration for the appearance of the installations, has also been a point of satisfaction for customers like Rogers, who noted that his installation was the best-looking in the neighborhood. Notably, the tangible savings on electricity bills post-installation have been a significant benefit, with Rogers experiencing a substantial reduction in his monthly energy costs.

Areas for Improvement

Despite these positive experiences, some customers have voiced concerns over Southern Current’s post-installation support and service, especially as the company transitioned its focus to commercial solar projects. James Erickson and Jo S. have both reported difficulties in receiving adequate service for their systems post-installation, with Erickson mentioning a specific issue with a warranty-covered component and receiving no support from Southern Current.

Connie Pearson’s experience further illustrates this point, with an initial positive outlook on their solar system installation turning sour due to lack of follow-up service and incorrect tax credit information. This has led to frustration among some customers who feel left behind as the company shifted its focus away from residential installations.

Analyzing Southern Current’s Service Offering

Installation Process and Customer Education

Southern Current has demonstrated a strong capability in conducting thorough and efficient solar installations, with several customers noting the professionalism and attention to detail during the process. The company also appears to invest time in educating customers on the benefits of solar and how to maximize their energy efficiency, which is a significant plus for those new to solar energy solutions.

Customer Support and Follow-Up Service

While the installation process receives high marks, Southern Current’s post-installation support seems to be an area needing improvement. The transition towards commercial solar projects has left some residential customers feeling unsupported, especially when facing technical issues or seeking clarity on financial incentives like tax credits.

Financial Savings and Environmental Impact

The potential for financial savings on energy bills is a notable advantage of going solar with Southern Current, as highlighted by customers who have seen their energy costs dramatically decrease. Moreover, the environmental benefits of solar energy add another layer of satisfaction for homeowners committed to reducing their carbon footprint.

Conclusion: Weighing the Pros and Cons

Southern Current has shown that it can provide valuable solar energy solutions to Charleston homeowners, offering knowledgeable advice, efficient installations, and the promise of reduced energy bills. However, prospective customers should be mindful of the company’s apparent shift in focus towards commercial projects, which has impacted the level of support available for residential installations.

For homeowners in Charleston considering Southern Current for their solar energy needs, it’s essential to weigh the tangible benefits of energy savings and professional installations against the potential challenges in receiving post-installation support. Despite some areas for improvement, Southern Current remains a notable option for those looking to explore solar energy solutions in Charleston, SC.

My Southern Current system was installed in 2017 with a 10 year warranty. My Enphase Gateway communication device has failed and I cannot get Southern Current to step up as they no longer provide service on their systems which is a major negative I would think for any new clients considering a Solar System from Southern Current.

James Erickson
I interviewed 5 different solar companies before I selected Southern Current. They had the best price and the most informative presentation of all the companies I talked to. My sales rep was Eric who was very knowledgeable and helpful in evaluating my energy needs. He did not come across as just trying to sell me solar panels but made recommendations to make my house more energy efficient. We settled on a system design that I felt would meet my needs. I signed a contract Sept 21, 2017; installation started the first week of November and I was generating power Nov 16. I was really surprised at how quickly things happened especially after some of the reviews I had read from other companies. The installers checked with me during each phase of the installation to make sure I was satisfied with the look and the routing of the wiring. One neighbor who walks the neighborhood said our installation was the best looking of any she had seen. The real test is the savings on my power bill. Feb through Mar I have generated more power than I have used, meaning my bill is the minimum, $13.62 each month. However, my situation was a little unique in that we had two extra people living with us during the 12 months previous which allowed me to build a slightly larger system based on my increased usage. They still live with me but not full time. Southern Current was very helpful throughout the process, keeping me informed of the progress and answering my many questions. I am very satisfied with my experience with Southern Current and would highly recommend them to anyone considering Solar.

Bill Rogers
Southern Current has friendly, intelligent and professional employees. I have dealt with 2 previous salesy/pushy solar companies before finding Southern Current. They met with me on my schedule, produced a solar model for my home and actually recommended a better/cheaper solution than my roof would allow based on some shading and cost:production benefit. Once I signed to start the process the fantastic customer service did not end. I was kept in the loop about permitting, paperwork, inspections, et al. right up to the day my system was energized. Fantastic work by a fantastic company.
